In the last post we planed to arrived to Linapacan Island, but we took longer…so we met a family who let us to put our tent in their house…

We arrived at Linapacan while it was still day and looked for a guest house. After all, there were only two guesthouses and a place to eat.

The guesthouse we chose had an amazing terrace and the owner, Ben, who was very friendly, allowed us to use it.

We asked Ben how we could visit the surrounding islands and go for a dive, hoping there was something organized for the few tourists there. …

In the previous post I saw one of the most marvelous places on earth, the islands around El Nido and its unforgettable clear crystal waters…

Our visit to El Nido was light and magnificent! Wherever you find tourists, you will also find the vacation spirit: the hotels, bars, and restaurants are ready to transport us out of reality. It is good for a while but it always becomes boring quicker than expected.

After El Nido, in the island of Palawan, the most common option is to stop by Coron Island. It is also quite known for its beaches and paradisiac views. …

In the previous post we have been robbed! Definitely a story to tell…read what happened here…

In El Nido, I saw the most wonderful, beautiful, exotic, and delightful landscapes I have ever seen in my life.

The village of El Nido gathers a set of islands and beaches that many consider the most beautiful in the world. Once you arrive at El Nido, several tourist agencies offer all kinds of activities, related to the paradisiac islands and the crystal-clear water. The most popular activity is the boat visit to the different islands.

We chose to visit two lagoons, Big Lagoon and Secret Lagoon, the beach 7 Commando, and the island of Shimizu. There were many more beaches and hidden islands to choose from and all of them looked irresistible. …

In the previous post we spend amazing days in a paradisiac beach in Bohol, in our tent, all alone!

The island of Bohol is painted with a tropical green. Nature is dense and it fills entirely our vision field. It is as if we are constantly inside a postcard.

We spent a few dream days in a beach just for us, but we felt that we wanted to further explore Bohol.

We went to the capital, Tagbilaran, to visit a couchsurfer. We ended up planning a dinner together with our old and current couchsurfers, so that they could exchange contacts.

During one of our nights at the capital, while having dinner at a restaurant, a woman got closer to our table to talk to us. …

In the previous post we ended two months of traveling around Indonesia. We did our last motorbike ride, and saw wonderful nature…one more time…

We landed in Cebu! We were ready to catch a boat directly to Bohol, one of the wonderful islands in the Philippines. After a quick boat crossing, a couchsurfer who we had contacted waited for us at the airport with a welcome sign. Although we did not stay at her place, she promptly took us to a typical Philippine restaurant, where, for the first time, I tried an ice-cream that tasted ube, a sort of a pink sweet potato and nowadays you will not find a bigger fan! …

In the previous post we saw fireflies in the hidden beach at 2am…A couple of days later, we decided to continue traveling…

I loved the time we spent in Kuta. The night with the fireflies on the beach, the taste of home I felt when my dear friends visited me, the slow pace of the place, and, above all, the good mood, happiness, and the curiosity we kept during the entire time.

Whenever you ask someone their opinion about a place in the world, instead ask how it made them feel, who they met, and how available they were while discovering the place. …

In the last post we made a quick and awesome stop in Bali! Bali for us was more than the bling bling, but who we met there…

Lombok is the island of coconuts and crystal waters which sand comes from the dreamland!

We traveled from Bali to Lombok on a boat. Coincidently, we found Jojo in Lombok’s port. He was going in the opposite direction — we met him in Thailand and it was the third time we were together during this trip!).

We spent two nights in the capital, Mataram, and left as soon as we could. It had too much chaos, traffic, and pollution. …

In the last post we did a motorbike ride for three days around Lake Toba. We pitched the tent, we fell off the bike, we slept on a Batak house and we met a very nice man from Timor who let us sleep in his stand…

We just landed in Bali!

We spent a month in North Sumatra and it has been one and a half months since we last saw a tourist. North Sumatra is a green magical island, steeped in the Batak culture and barely any Occidental culture.

Thus, landing in the airport of Bali was like returning to Europe. The West reigned in the air, from the travelers to the bathrooms. The body travels faster than the mind and we were still on that empty island that lived on a volcano’s crater. …

In last week’s post we have experienced the slow life of living in an island for two weeks…

Fifteen days went by on this island that lives in the crater of a volcano.

I had finally stopped. One of the great goals of this trip.

Traveling is a constant dilemma. We are always divided between stopping and continuing.

If, on one hand, we want to discover the entire world, on the other hand, we want to feel the depths of each place.

This time, we had no choice. I had to recover my injured knee. Not having a choice, made me relax and accept the decision that we would stay in a single place for so long. …

In the last post, I fell pretty bad on the way going down the volcano…We moved to the island of Lake Toba, a large natural lake in North Sumatra, Indonesia, occupying the caldera of a supervolcano. During the night we pitched the tent in a place…we were woken up by….

The sight from our tent was amazing. When we set the tent outside, we didn’t even notice how special the place we chose was. The friendly girl who woke us up by the morning was responsible for the place… I thought she was going to ask us to leave. Yet, I was wrong. She invited us for a coffee. We prepared the breakfast with whatever we had. We bought some passion fruits and pineapple and our friend brought something from the kitchen. …
