What did I already learn from the Coronavírus?

The new virus that is turning the world upside down cannot stop me draw some thoughts to explore today and in the near future.

Generally speaking, the humanity is moved by an unconscious mindset that something one day will happen. One day we will arrive somewhere. Maybe something big and terrific will change direction of things. History witnesses several events that transformed our current society: wars, change in philosophical and scientific thinking, electricity, technology, vaccinations, the microscope, mass migrations, natural disasters, destroyed empires, societal movements, cultural and political revolutions…so on…

These strong transformations in society are pushing our society somewhere…

Even astrophysicists say the universe, we are also included guys, is moving towards an unknown specific direction. This basically means everything is moving towards a place nobody knows about: all galaxies (ours included), the emptiness (they call it void — crazy to thing the emptiness also moves…) and the other matter nobody knows about ( it’s called dark matter and occupies 2/3 of the universe.).

(If you are curious, read more about The Great Attractor)

So, yes everything is moving. Society evolves faster than ever, nowadays we can have 100 years of evolution in just one generation. We all see things moving fast but nobody knows exactly where. Scholars, religions, artists and cutting edge technologies try to draw their conclusions while the world is evolving like a galloping horse in the desert.

We don’t know where we are going but we are moving somewhere. Along this way, things transform around us and most of us share a great level of abundance: sexy technologies, new cures for diseases, new forms of art and literature that open our minds, access to never touched cultures, squeeze time difference in computer screens, the Internet we all know…. The society gifts and its endless perks are countless.

The effects of transformation however can’t be foreseen in time. When we do something, big or small, it already generated an effect. It’s subtle, soft and silent.

But we move fast. Moving fast is the slogan of our today’s society. Moving fast make us feel powerful and bright. Efficient and modern.

But what is being left along the way? What are the subtle or not so subtle effects that are not so bright?

The old challenges of society that should be already expired, overlapping with the new challenges emerging every day?

Those challenges we see every day but yet feel so far away from us? The challenges of society that we know but we don’t exactly comprehend. The challenges we think about, talk about, write about but still not enough to improve substantially.

Just because we do not have time. We don’t have time to stop, observe and reflect. Come together, learn and digest. Sync our mind and spirit to sincerely look at those challenges.

Because there is no time. Because when we stop, nothing moves. We feel knowledge, passion and ambition freezes. So we must not stop, to feel that things keep moving.

But what this virus is showing me?

That we actually can slow down. Even stop for a while.

We actually can come together.

Learn and digest knowledge collectively.

Sync our minds and spirit to overcome challenges.

Move towards the mindset that one’s problems is everyone’s problems.

And that after all, we actually have time and ability to put our mind towards one direction, If we want.

What is this virus is also reminding me?

We always get the answers and changes we seek, but they always come in a format that we weren’t expecting.

Our minds, consciousness and souls are powerful. I seriously believe that.

However, look at nature. What a tiny microscopic particle that can’t be touched, smelled and seen by naked eye is already doing.

Maybe not changing yet the direction of things but shifting our comprehension and awareness about who we are and what we can become as a society.

More than a big and terrific change, we need a subtle and a silence shift in our minds.

So yes, I am doing what they asked. Not because I am panicking or I think I am going to die, but:

First, I don’t feel like adjusting my life for two weeks and have to handle all the logistics if I eventually get infected;

Second, for respect for all the people that is working hard to fix the issue and not become one more burden for the healthcare system because now I need to go to the hospital just because I start coughing and sneezing.

Washing hands, avoid busy places and stay calm. I still think I can do that without complaining.
